陈铭博士于2025年加入内华达大学里诺分校化学与材料工程系担任助理教授,并建立“过程冶金与物理冶金课题组”,专注于制备具有优异机械性和功能性的金属和陶瓷,同时测试和表征材料在多物理场耦合条件和多尺度的力学性能和缺陷行为,发展新型的金属材料制造工艺,具体应用场景包括可持续能源和航空航天等领域。


目前招聘包括(但不限于)以下方向:

  1. 增材制造具有复杂微观结构的金属和陶瓷材料;
  2. 测试和表征材料在微纳米尺度、极端条件和多物理场耦合下的力学性能;
  3. 冷冻浇注工艺(Freeze casting)制备功能性金属泡沫;
  4. 可持续冶金新工艺设计和研究;
  5. 模拟和预测多物理场耦合条件下金属微观结构演变和材料流变;

教师个人简介

陈铭博士于2025年加入内华达大学里诺分校化学与材料工程系担任助理教授,此前在美国西北大学材料科学与工程学院开展博士后工作(2022-2024)。分别于北京科技大学(2012年)、德国亚琛工业大学(2015年)和瑞士苏黎世联邦理工学院(2020年)取得本科、硕士和博士学位。博士毕业后在瑞士保罗谢尔研究所和瑞士光源(SLS)从事第一期博士后工作(2020-2022)。目前,课题组专注于结构材料和能源材料的冶金工艺、增材制造和性能表征测试。

PhD Position: Additive Manufacturing of Complex Metallic Materials

Prof. Chen’s research group – Processing and Physical Metallurgy (PPM) Laboratory – in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno, (UNR) is seeking a motivated PhD candidate interested in additive manufacturing of complex metallic materials with exceptional mechanical properties for extreme environments to join from summer 2025 (The specific start date is negotiable).


Project background

This project concentrates on using an additive manufacturing strategy to form and shape metals with designed microstructures, phases, and chemical compositions for outstanding performance. This project aims to advance a novel additive manufacturing technique and establish a processing-microstructure-property relationship to optimize the performance of complex metals.


Position Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to advance a novel additive manufacturing method for processing advanced alloys with tailored microstructures. This project involves:

  • Experimental work in 3D printing of complex metals
  • Microstructural characterization
     using electron microscopy
  • In situ mechanical testing
     to evaluate material properties
  • Data analysis
     to understand process-structure-property relationships
  • Manuscript preparation
     for publication in peer-reviewed journals


Preferred profile

  • Bachelor or master's degree or equivalent degree in materials science, metallurgical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, or related fields;
  • Background in metallography, metals, mechanical properties, crystallography, or solid-state physics is a plus;
  • Experience with computational modeling of materials is a plus;
