    1. GO-guided direct growth of highly oriented metal–organic framework nanosheet membranes for  H2/CO2 separation

    Researchers in China and Australia report a bottom-up strategy for directly growing a highly oriented Zn2(benzimidazole)4 ZIF nanosheet tubular membrane, based on graphene oxide guided self-conversion of ZnO nanoparticles. The resulting 200 nm thick membrane demonstrated exceptional H2/CO2 gas separation performance, with a H2 performance of 1.4×10-7 mol m-2 s-1 Pa-1 and an ideal separation selectivity of approximately 106. The strategy is particularly suitable for large-scale fabrication of tubular MOF membranes.

    Scientists in China have developed an efficient synthetic procedure for conjugated small molecules and polymers featuring 9,10-azaboraphenanthrene units via aromaticity-driven ring-opening interactions. These molecules and polymers displayed good air and moisture stability, and bright fluorescent properties. The compounds were used as effective and selective ratiometric sensors for fluoride ions in THF solution with 11 anions. The conjugated polymers showed better sensing performance than the molecules due to exciton migration along the conjugated chains.

 

    西安交通大学研究团队发展了一种通过芳香性驱动的开环反应有效合成带有9,10-氮硼杂菲单元的共轭小分子和聚合物的合成方法。这些分子和聚合物展现出了良好的空气和湿度稳定性,并具有明亮的荧光性质。该化合物在含有11种阴离子的THF溶液中,可用作氟离子的高效选择性比率传感器。由于能够沿共轭链进行激子迁移,这种共轭聚合物显示出了比单个分子更好的传感性能。

    1. Cross-linked AIE supramolecular polymer gels with multiple stimuli-responsive behaviours constructed by hierarchical self-assembly

    Here researchers used the principles of hierarchical (step-wise) self-assembly to create stimuli-responsive supramolecular polymer gels. Firstly, the discrete building blocks of the supramolecular structures were synthesised, driven by coordination interactions these self-assembled to create metallacycles. By increasing the concentration of metallacycles and introducing guest molecules the system self-assembled into a crosslinked supramolecular gel. The gels created had aggregation-induced-emission properties and were responsive to stimuli such as temperature and competitive guests.


    华东师范大学的研究人员使用分级(逐步)自组装的原理合成了具有刺激响应性的超分子聚合物凝胶。首先,他们合成了构成超分子结构的离散结构单元,并通过配位作用驱动这些结构单元自组装成金属环。之后,通过增加金属环的浓度以及引入客体分子,该体系最终自组装成为交联超分子凝胶。该凝胶具有聚集诱导发光(AIE)性质,并可对温度和竞争性客体分子等刺激产生响应。

    In this paper a novel RGD peptide-based methacrylamide monomer (MARGD) was synthesised and can be polymerised by RAFT polymerization to afford well-defined polymers (PMARGD) containing a RGD peptide group. In aqueous solutions PMARGD self-assembled into nanoparticles which exhibited pH responsive behaviour, increasing in size as the pH of the solution decreased. Cytotoxicity tests showed biocompatibility.


    北京化工大学的研究人员合成了一种新的基于RGD肽的甲基丙烯酰胺单体(MARGD),其可通过直接RAFT聚合反应制备带有RGD肽结构单元的结构确切的聚合物(PMARGD)。在水溶液中,PMARGD会自组装成纳米颗粒,并表现出了pH响应行为,这种纳米颗粒尺寸会随着溶液pH值的下降而增大。细胞毒性测试显示该聚合物具有生物相容性。

    The electrospinning method has provided a new and exciting avenue for fabricating functional 1D hollow carbon materials from MOFs, especially for clean energy utilization. This minireview by Yoshio Bando, Yusuke Yamauchi et al. provides some guidance for future derivations of 1D hollow carbon nanomaterials from MOFs using electrospinning technology.

    2. Conducting photopolymers on orthopeadic implants having a switch of priority between promoting osteogenic and antibacterial activity

    For the long-term success of medical implants, the authors of this communication have decorated an implant surface with an intelligent medium based on conducting photopolymers. This surface could switch priority between promoting bone integration and antibacterial activity when a specific electrical stimulus was applied. This opens up new avenues for implants with specific properties needed at different clinical stages of implantation.

    3. Pseudocapacitance contribution in boron-doped graphite sheets for anion storage enables high-performance sodium-ion capacitors

    Intercalation pseudocapacitive materials enable very fast charging and discharging processes in batteries, which can provide both fast rate capability and high specific capacity. Currently, all the previously reported pseudocapacitive contributions in intercalation/deintercalation reactions are based on various cations (Li+, Na+, Zn2+ etc.)。 In this work, the authors demonstrate that boron-doped graphite sheets can reversibly store anions (PF6-) through both a surface-controlled pseudocapacitive reaction and a diffusion-limited intercalation/deintercalation reaction.


    嵌入赝电容材料可使电池能够进行快速的充放电,提供快速倍率性能和高比容量。目前,已有报道的赝电容嵌入/脱嵌反应都是基于各种阳离子(Li+, Na+, Zn2+等)。在本工作中,作者们证明了硼掺杂石墨片可以通过表面控制的赝电容反应和扩散受限的嵌入/脱嵌反应可逆地存储阴离子(PF6-)。

    1. Interaction of cells with patterned reactors

    Researchers created patterned particles through step-wise assembly with a PDMS stamp, strengthened by a final crosslinking step. Then they made the patterned particles into reactors by introducing enzyme-loaded liposomes in between polymer layers. The enzyme used was glucose oxidase, which catalyses the reaction of glucose to hydrogen peroxide. The reactor design successfully influenced the cellular response and the activity of the reactor increased with additional liposome deposition steps.


    哈尔滨工业大学和丹麦奥胡斯大学的研究人员们借助PDMS印章逐步组装合成了一种图案化颗粒,并由最后的一个交联步骤进行强化。之后,他们通过在聚合物层之间引入载有酶的脂质体,将这种图案化颗粒制成了反应器。所使用的葡萄糖氧化酶能够催化由葡萄糖生成过氧化氢的反应。所设计的反应器成功地影响了细胞响应,而且其活性会随着脂质体沉积步骤的增多而增加。
